How We Began
Paradise Pictures was founded in 2016 by Yusri Shaggy Sapari. The goal was to capture theatrical productions in their best light owing to Shaggy’s experience compiling video archives for The Necessary Stage since 2011. Shaggy saw how precious show recordings are to the legacy of an organisation. He sought to build a company dedicated to preserving the hard work of fellow artists with Paradise Pictures.
Since then, Paradise Pictures has had the privilege to work with arts companies such as Arts Equator, Centre 42 and Singapore Repertory Theatre to name a few. Venues such as The Esplanade and The Arts House have become familiar working grounds for us.
Our Founder
Yusri Shaggy Sapari is a professional kepo (busybody) using the medium of recorded video to explore stories of people. He started his journey recording his grandmother and TV shows on his audio cassette tape recorder as a child.
Shaggy went on later in his teenage years to study media hoping to become a journalist. That’s when he fell in love with the arts. Shaggy’s talents extend into both the film and theatre worlds as a filmmaker and projection designer.
